Who We Are

ScoutLid was formed in the spring of 2023, after 2 years of research and development of trail camera, and security camera accessories.

The frustration of foggy lenses, started the drive to find a solution.

Starting with a flower pot cut in half to mount above the camera, to purchasing a 3D printer for prototyping something better has driven us where we are today.

Our Philosophy

We believe in providing high-quality products and exceptional customer service. Our goal is to create products that will help protect and preserve the quality of the investments you make, as well as creating useful products to solve the common issues we have when using outdoor cameras.

Our Products

We have moved to lighter colors to keep heat absorption to a minimum, as well as better sun reflection.

We have moved to PETG plastic (polyethylene terephthalate) which is UV, chemical, and water resistant. PETG is flexible and stronger than other PLA filaments . PETG is commonly used in the plastic water bottles, and similar to ABS.

All products are paint-able, and is recommended to use a clear protectant, or enamel paint for further protection.

Benefits

  1. Rain and Snow Deterrent: Designed to deter the water, and snow away from the camera, and keep them from piling up on the top of the cameras.
  2. Sun Glare: The lids help shade the lens which allows camera placement in directions you normally wouldn't face a camera.
  3. Heat Reduction: Beneficial in reducing direct heat on the cameras, which can cause malfunctions in extreme temperatures. It has been found through testing to reduce temperatures on the internal components of the camera by up to 15 - 20%.
  4. Air Flow: Designed to have minimal contact with the cameras. This allows air flow to keep warm and cold air moving. This acts as a temperature barrier between the camera and the elements.
  5. Critter Protection: Keeps birds from perching and dropping directly on the camera, and deters other critters from direct contact with the camera
